I’m so excited to be offering this class at the Sea Goat Farms Maker’s Space! It is the first of two offered in December.

Join me for a fun afternoon of puppetry and crafting! I will present “Little Mouse Needs a Winter House”, a sweet seasonal puppet play. Will Little Mouse find just the right winter house? We’ll find out!

After the puppet show, make your very own needle felted little mouse to take home! This event is suitable for ages 6 and up. Please use parental judgement for how independently your child can work with a felting needle.

Join me at Sea Goat Farm Makers’ Space for a second fun afternoon of puppetry and crafting! In “Huey Hedgehog Needs a Friend”, Huey Hedgehog is in a spot of trouble. Can he find a friend to help him out?

After the show kids can create their own needle felted Hedgehog! This event is suitable for ages 6 and up. Please use parental judgement for how independently your child can work with a felting needle.

New! Tiny House Theater Puppet Club

Learn how to make your own endearing puppets using easy to follow, step-by-step video tutorials! Then, watch how to create a simple show using the short, seasonal nature tale provided. You get a pack of “story seeds” to grow new adventures for your puppet.  Join Puppet Club’s private Facebook group where you can share your creations, ask questions and connect with other Puppet Club members. Crafting kits will be available for purchase, providing all materials needed to complete the project shown in the tutorials.

Puppets are fun and engaging! They offer an enchanting way to start a rich storytelling tradition and can provide inspiring curriculum content for homeschooling families as well as preschool and daycare programs.

Weather permitting after the show, for those who bring picnics, we’ll go across the street to the Schwan Lake Open Space, spread the picnic blanket and enjoy our food. If raining or inclement, picnic will be in studio.

The puppet show this month, “Badger’s Birthday,” is an original animal tale. Franklin Fox wants to help get ready for the party, but he just seems to keep causing trouble! A wise friend helps sort the situation out.

Puppet Time for Tots Story Circle

Puppet time for your little one and you! This unique circle time features singing, storytelling, poems and nursery rhymes brought to life through puppetry arts. Puppetry rich in story and song supports language development in this wonderful stage of early childhood. Imagine, play and connect with your child. This is a warm-hearted and supportive atmosphere for adults and a joyful social experience for our youngest children.

Class meets 5 Wednesdays, March 4-April 1, 9:00-10:00am

February First Friday Puppet Show and Craft

Tiny House Theater is so excited to be partnering with Many Souls Gallery to present an original story puppet show, “Trouble in Greenwood Glen.” While the friends in Greenwood Glen are going about their jobs caring for the forest and each other, one of them is busy making extra work for everyone! Will Wise Ravens’s advice help solve the problem?

After the puppet show, there will be a crafting session. Make a small felt ladybug friend of your own to take home!

Makers Class: Felt Finger Puppet Birds

The fifth of my series of Makers Classes for the 2019-2020 school year is Saturday, January 18. We will be making felt finger puppet birds. Join me at my studio and make your own little friend for home or classroom! I’ll have many colors of felt available, plus lots of shades of pearl cotton for sewing. The pattern is included so you can make a whole flock of birds later at home if you want! 

What: Join me at my studio and make a felt finger puppet bird.

Puppet Time for Tots

Registration opens January 13 at Santa Cruz Parks and Rec for Winter/Spring Session 1 of this unique story and song circle for birth-3yrs and their adult caregiver. In 5, one hour, once a week sessions, singing, storytelling, poems and nursery rhymes are brought to life through puppetry arts. Puppetry rich in narrative supports language development in this wonderful stage of early childhood. Imagine, play and connect with your child. This is a warm-hearted and supportive atmosphere for adults and a joyful social experience for our youngest children. $148 per session. Session 2 runs March 4-April 1, Session 3 runs April 22-May 20.

Private Event: Fireside Puppets is being rescheduled!

Hello dear puppet friends of Jana, Josh, Julia and Koa!

Please check back for the rescheduled date for this performance!

I’ll be performing the story of Shingebis, a wise little duck who Old Man Winter can’t beat.

Fireside Gate opens at 4pm, show at 4:30, supper immediately following the show.

We’ll roast sausages over the fire, and I’ll make a baked bean casserole, salad, and cornbread with pasture butter. Please bring the type of sausage your family prefers for roasting, as well as buns if you want them. I’ll provide condiments like ketchup, mustard, etc.

The freshly prepared, organic supper this week is “turkey pot pie” soup, mixed greens and arugula salad with vinaigrette, bread from Companion Bakeshop and pasture butter and apple cobbler with ice cream!

 

Garden gate opens at 4:30 with a garden friends scavenger hunt. Show starts at 5:00pm, supper immediately following the show.

The puppet show this week is a Grimm’s tale. The Three Billy Goats Gruff encounter an obstacle on their way up the mountain, and they each find their way around it to get to the summertime meadow.

The freshly prepared, organic supper this week is white bean soup with dry farm tomatoes, mixed green and arugula salad with vinaigrette, bread from Companion Bakeshop and pasture butter.

Puppets in the Garden

The puppet show this week is the Grimm’s fairy tale, Little Red Cap, or Little Red Riding Hood, as it’s more commonly known. Little Red Cap gets distracted from the task her mother gave her with an unpleasant consequence. Attentiveness and kind willingness from a passerby saves the day.

The freshly prepared, organic supper this week is beef barley soup, simple green salad with vinaigrette, bread from Companion Bakeshop and pasture butter.
